Upcoming Events

Greetings Wildcat Band Families,

Such a beautiful fall weekend! I hope you got to get out and enjoy some time outside. It's been a great week for our Wildcats. Football teams won against Ramey on Thursday, Volleyball remains undefeated, girls XC earned 1st place at the Chili Pepper and our forensics team had a fantastic first tournament! Additionally, Bentonville Pride Marching Band hosted the annual Bentonville Marching Invitational at Tiger Stadium with many awesome performances! I got to see the Pride in exhibition perform their show "Lady" and IT. WAS. BREATHTAKING!!! If you haven't seen them perform yet, be sure you make it out before the season ends at the end of the month.

This week we will also welcome our student teacher Mr. Eric Aguilar from the University of Arkansas. He is a saxophone player and we can't wait to introduce him to the students! :)

As the quarter is coming to a close it is important students complete any missing assignments. Current assignments that have not turned in will not be able to be turned in after October 13th for any credit. Students receive an email weekly via google classroom if they are missing anything. Assignments turned in by Wednesday, September 28th have been graded and are in HAC.

The AMP's concert season is coming to a close and we are still in need of some volunteers to help. If you are available on any of the following dates and willing to help out and earn money towards your band students supply fees, please sign up:

· Tuesday, October 4th – The Chicks. We need help starting at 5:00. Gates at 6:00 music at 7:30.

  • We need 16 more volunteers.

· Thursday, October 13th – The Black Keys. We need help starting at 5:00. Gates at 6:00 music at 7:00.

  • We need 17 more volunteers.

Our band apparel came in Friday. I did my best to distribute online orders to students by the end of the day but didn't see everyone. Will work to get those orders out Monday and Tuesday as I see students in class. Additionally, we were able to start handing out the band and jazz band shirts to students as they came through to get instruments at the end of the day. We will continue handing out shirts in class this week.

I have already had a few students ask to do another band hoodie order. If you are interested, please let me know what size you need and we can make an order. We need at least 15 to make the order.

Our Dominos cards did not arrive on Friday as expected. According to our current tracking information, they should now arrive on Tuesday and ready for distribution by Wednesday.

Wednesday, October 12th is the Jazz Band and 8th Grade Bands' Fall Concert. It begins at 6:30. Students are welcome to stay after school and we will order pizza. PRIVATE LESSONS ARE AWESOME! They are designed to be fun, engaging, supportive and focused on the individual student.

We have an awesome partnership with Arkansas Music Conservatory where your student can take a lesson or two on US to see what private lessons can do for your band student! We have set aside $1150 for lessons this year. We can also help pay for additional lessons and offset the cost of lessons for families who need financial assistance in this area.

Who should take private lessons:

  • Advanced students who need to be pushed and challenged

  • Students who need some 1-on-1 assistance to learn and master concepts covered in class

  • Students who missed substantial class time due to illness

  • Students who just began playing this year

  • Students who want to get better

  • EVERYONE

To sign up for a free lesson:

  • Contact Mr. Jones so he can track who is taking the exploratory lessons

  • Contact Arkansas Music Conservatory to setup a lesson 479-268-3307 (call) or 479-430-2226 (text)

To stay in the know be sure to follow us on your social media platform of choice: Facebook or Instagram - @wjhswildcatband and/or at www.wjhswildcatband.com
