Upcoming Event

Greetings Wildcat Band Families,

I hope everyone had a fantastic and restful weekend full of down time, family time and great food!

I will be at WJHS 5:00-5:30pm tonight (Sunday, November 26th) for tuba families to return instruments. Enter from the back band room door from the commons area.

By now, everyone should have their concert black purchased and ready to go. If you reached out requesting some help with this, I will be getting that to your student this week.

These next few weeks are busy for sure so I ask that everyone look carefully at our band calendar and below to be sure students are where they need to be. I am dedicated to create a calendar that has no over lap with other Bentonville Schools activities. This isn't always possible as sometimes other activities get added to the calendar after the band calendar is set and makes it difficult or impossible to adjust. Band is a full team activity that takes every single person to be fully effective and successful.

We still have 201 poinsettias that we HAVE to sell by delivery this Wednesday!

These make incredible decorations and gifts.

If we don't sell these we will be out $2k. These fundraisers are painstakingly put together for our families to make things easier. The band gets no profit off of these. It goes directly to the individual student selling them for band related expenses. If everyone in band sells just ONE more, we will have sold them all.

The order form is located here: https://form.jotform.com/232875252423153

As we prepare for the holidays, families often want to get music related gifts for their band student. To help offer some great ideas I have created a list with links to purchase.

Included in the list are some required mouthpieces and ligatures that are needed by the time students are in high school. For families that need assistance, the high school can provide required mouthpieces. However, it is always best for a student to have their own.

You can sometimes find good deals on mouthpieces at www.reverb.com. Just be sure it is the correct model.

IF you happen to be in the market for a step up intrument for your students, there is a GREAT list of brands and models on the Bentonville Pride website and linked here.

I have a knack for finding some GREAT deals on step up instruments, so if you are interested please don't hesitate to reach out. However, patience is the key. :)

Thank you to everyone who has been sending in the band supply fees! That is a huge help! Band Supply Fees are all setup in MyPayments Plus and are available if you prefer to pay online. If you do this, you will have to search for 'WJHS Band' and find the appropriate fee. Fees SHOULD be modified accordingly for students on free or reduced lunch. If that is not that case, please email me so I can look into it as we have had a couple of coding issues in the system to show you the correct fee. You can still send in cash or check made out to "WJHS Band." Thank you for your help!!

PRIVATE LESSONS ARE AWESOME! They are designed to be fun, engaging, supportive and focused on the individual student.

We have an awesome partnership with Arkansas Music Conservatory where your student can take a lesson or two on US to see what private lessons can do for your band student!

Who should take private lessons:

  • Advanced students who need to be pushed and challenged

  • Students who need some 1-on-1 assistance to learn and master concepts covered in class

  • Students who missed substantial class time due to illness

  • Students who just began playing this year

  • Students who want to get better

  • EVERYONE

To stay in the know be sure to follow us on your social media platform of choice: Facebook or Instagram - @wjhswildcatband and/or at www.wjhswildcatband.com

If you have any questions or concerns, please never hesitate to reach out. We are partners in your student's growth and need to work together for them to be as successful as possible.

Musically Yours,
